Mug industrial design
Redefining the design of a utilitarian object, we designed the HORECA mug for Xocoyo. Investing in geometry, and drawing inspiration from Aztec architecture, particularly the steep staircases that characterize their structures, the design incorporates a striking blend of ancient inspiration and modernity. Made of matte dark ceramic, the texture of the mug recalls the earthy, traditional feel of the earthenware vessels used by the Aztecs. In contrast, the wooden base incorporated into the design adds organicity by complementing the ceramic.
The handle stands out with its angular, slashing shape - a modern interpretation of the sharp lines often found in Aztec art. In addition to being a functional handle, it also functions as a bold design statement, enhancing the visual identity of the object. Transforming an everyday object into a visually appealing piece, our approach marries storytelling and modernity in a sleek, minimalist aesthetic.
